First started shaving legs when racing as a junior in the 90's much to my mother's dismay. Continued for 17 years before quitting. At the time, I would have never guessed that I'd have hairy legs ever again.
Since getting back into riding again last spring, I've lost 40lbs and am starting to be somewhat OK again. No plans to race in the future but am thinking about shaving again. It's not like I need to for massage or the threat of road rash. It's really just a mental thing. So...should I? |

First, congratulations on getting back to riding and the weight loss. I haven't shaved since I stopped road racing, but I have several non-racing friends who shave their legs. If you like the look and feel of hairless legs, why not? |

Sort of like a Harley rider having a tattoo… it's what we do, so yeah, get out the razor. Congrats on the weight loss. How's the new gig going? |

I can't get myself to grow the hair back on my legs. Even in years when I wasn't riding much / at all. As our fellow blood-challenged brother noted - it is what we do. Time to mow your walkers. |

Thanks for the feedback!! Ok, I'll break out the shears. Fortunately, I just got back from a beach vacation so the legs don't look like white sticks. New gig...not good. That's a whole other story and unfortunately, I can't share here. |

I am not shaving because the rest of my lower body looks dumb with no clothes on. |

Definitely do it. Been doing it sine early 90s and haven't stopped. I had girl friends that thought it felt weird, friends raised eye brows and thought I'm in a wannabe phase and family just made comments on scars on my shin from mountain biking like "Oooo what happened there" being polite but brining attention to it indirectly. However my wife understood even though she has no interest in cycling. It's a way of life for me now. During the winter they look funny with hair. Actually more dirty than funny!! I tried Nair for face once as I hate shaving in the AM, I still had to shave the next day but boy did my skin feel smooth. Gonna try the legs cream next see how that works. Oh yeah 40 lbs is awesome. Congrats |

I let the hair grow over winter but as soon as the temperature gets over 15 the razor comes out. My wife likes the hair except on the bike where we both just think it looks wrong. Plus the hair covers the tattoo. I started shaving in 1986 so it is just engrained. About the only difference between shaving now and when I first started is I don't shave every week but about every 2 1/2 weeks as the hair get obvious. For me it is ritual and aesthetic. |

I shave with a clipper sporadically because I seem to be able to scuff up my legs frequently on mountain bike rides whether I fall or not. Those shrubs in Moab are made from rebar and wrought iron. Don't brush out of the way like the local weeds. Got the striations to prove it too. |

shaved for about 3-4 years around the time I rode the etape in France. Figured I needed a little gravitas to do it right in europe. Finally my wife told me that if she wanted to sleep with a girl there were a lot better-looking ones who she'd rather hook up with. So I stopped. |

I said something like this OK I will stop shaving if you promise to bring the other girl. Hey my legs were shaved when she met me. |
