It is a beautiful thing when you start to get those good sensations back in the legs. You pick away at it, you feel good in spurts, but the whole thing..putting together a nice long ride at race type efforts, just won't come.

Then suddenly you go out on a ride and you just FEEL it. What did they call it in the Highlander movie? The Quickening?

Form, I missed you SOOOO much. Thanks for acting like the old lost friend you are. Now, let's go beat up on some people!

Hear hear. I felt that last week on my Wednesday road ride. 31.5 kph average speed over 42 k. Last night that form was gone though. Did a trail ride on Mt Froome and the descent was on a new (in parts) trail called Expresso. Boy did I suck. Tried to over the bars twice, at speed and my bike ghost rode into a tree. I was off the bike and about to slide down a ramp and it was fall or let go. No harm done. Nomads are tough.

i was feeling good before i broke my foot. now 2.5 months later i'm doing spin class to at least get moving again. the spin class lets me know that my fitness is in the toilet but i figure in about a month i should be getting back some fitness and i hope the form comes soon after that. just in time for the summer heat. but yeah it's great when it all comes together.

Not this year; but that's on purpose; making it an easy one. In a typical year I'd have the first Seymour climbs digested; now I am still dabbling in UBC loops. Feels good for a change. But we had our friends over last weekend; and buddy wants me to do Alex Merckx GF so maybe at some point I should get my act in gear.

Know the feeling, Keith....finally feel like my legs are coming around. I've been putting in a crapton of training in April. 2 weeks ago I had 16 hours of training, including over 200 miles on the bike. All month has been very heavy from a training load, but haven't felt the benefits.

Was off the bike Thursday - - Sunday last week because I was playing old with my brother. Did a "Sweetspot" ride on Monday (just under FTP for an hour) and felt good. Tuesday I swam in the AM, ran 5 miles @ tempo for lunch and then did the Tuesday night group ride. Was only planning in following wheels and taking the occasional pull.....ends up being a small group and had to take my pulls the whole ride. Felt much better than I expected and kept rolling through, taking my pulls.

Legs are starting to FINALLY get that "sharp" feeling I have been lacking this year. First race if the year is next weekend.....legs coming round just in time!!

Ah yes, it's a wonderful feeling! I recall Hincapie saying those days are like riding without a chain. Of course, there could have been another reason for that...

Is your first race a crit/RR or a triathlon? Will you be using the new Venge? What is your current 20-minute FTP and weight?

Have fun in the race! All that hard training will pay off by making the event fun rather than a death march.

It'll be 20 years ago next year since I got my USCF license and I can count on one hand the number of "no chain" days I've experienced during races. Have had plenty of those days while training but only a few while racing. Had one this year in a hilly crit....the feeling is hard to forget.

6ix, currently sitting @ ~245 20' FTP, so about 3.5w / KG. Not bad...

This is just an Olympic distance tri, a training race more than anything else. Did it a couple years ago in 2:23, IIRC. But I ran 7'40" miles...no way I will come close to that this year. I don't expect to better my time.

Goals are to have solid swims and bikes and just complete the run....running. . If I can ride @225-230w (Sweetspot) and then run 8'30" miles, I'll be pretty damn happy.

Congratulations!

I can't say I know the feeling, but I am looking forward to it. I rode to work, for the first time, twice last week at an average speed of 10 mph and again twice this week at an average speed of 11. I can't wait to just get out of granny gear going up the hill. According to MapMyRide there is a cat 5 climb on my route.

I call it the difference between riding a bike and driving a bike. No form, you're riding. Form, then you're driving that bike! Break some legs Keith. Even if it's a sprint to a stoplight.

When you can dance your way up a Cat1 climb, two proverbial fingers up once nose, chain somewhere near the centre of the casette, pulling a sprint at the finish, ride down and then do it all over again; that's my definition of FORM.

Kind of a slow start this season in Vermont but have had some good windows. Mileage is low so far compared to normal for this late. But, I did do my first climb up the west side of the App Gap Road Wednesday after work. It's a doozy. Did the east side about a week prior. Felt pretty good though I did it at a worker bee approach. When I walk out of work today, I'm off for nine days and the weather looks pretty good on the long range. Hope to get in lots of riding with one or two big nasties. Some friends do a 175 mile ride every year in the Adirondacks and I believe I will particpate this year (having done the Vermont 100-200 last year and making it through that). Apparently lots of elevation, about 13,000 ft. June 21 . . . here I come!

Hope y'all are getting out and turning those cranks in the sunshine.

Our weather still sucks...even when the sun is out, we are 10* below normal (at least).

I would normally have been doing open water swims for at least a month by now...my first one is tomorrow and the water temp is about 55*. Holy fook...it is gonna be cold!!

Just got in from a coupe hours on the mbt... only slid out once. Narrow single track with 2' tall grass on either side and the dew made the grass a bit greasy. Just slid out nice and easy when I drifter off line. My buddy behind me yelled out, "SAFE at 2nd base!"
