From my vantage point (whatever that's worth), it looked like Cav's "fault", in that he instigated the chain reaction, but not necessarily the most blatant move in the world either. N |

And since we're in spoilage mode: Was fun to see two "old dogs" have their day, even if Cancellara's was only for a moment. When my wife asked, I told her, it was a low percentage move, but higher since he was making it. N |

It was blatantly obvious it was Cav's fault and he's admitted to it, what the hell were you guys watching? Frrome was sprinting for car position for tomorrow which with the narrow roads is a big concern for the GC guys. |

and Oh Bobke, who continues his ways as Apologist in Chief at the pre-stage 2 commentary this morning, switching now from LA to Cav. it should be a great tour, but the thought of having to listen to him, liggett and sherwen for 3 weeks sends a shiver down my spine. |

If you're not following LUG you missed this gem penned by one of the followers: The Ballad of Cav’ (Sung to The Beatles’ “Yesterday”) Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away I had visions of the Champs-Élysées Oh, I believe in yesterday Suddenly, I am battling with Simon G Tried to ride where I shouldn’t be Oh, yesterday ended suddenly Why I had to go I don’t know it was my play I did something wrong, now I long for yesterday Yesterday, sprinting was my one mainstay Now my shoulder is in disarray Oh, WTF was yesterday Why I had to go I don’t know it was my play I did something wrong, now I long for yesterday Yesterday, sprinting was my one mainstay Now my shoulder is in disarray Oh, WTF was yesterday Mm mm mm mm mm mm mm |

Interesting comparison has been made between Cav and Suarez (don't tell me you don't know who Suarez is). Both extremely talented guys with their heart and priorities in the right place but the occasional mean streak in competitive situations when things don't go their way.
The end point of that comparison is of course the lengthy ban Suarez received. |

Speaking yesterday, Cavendish said: "I'm gutted about the crash today. It was my fault. I'll personally apologise to Simon Gerrans as soon as I get the chance. "In reality, I tried to find a gap that wasn't really there. I wanted to win today, I felt really strong and was in a great position to contest the sprint thanks to the unbelievable efforts of my team. That is really all there is to say, innit? |

Cav seems to be maturing a bit as time passes. He still forces the issue at times, and I get why this year, but at least he now acknowledges responsibility when it is his to bear. A few years ago it would have been wanker this wanker that I got railroaded etc. I actually feel badly for the guy even if it was his fault. |
