Talansky out....bummer.
Honestly, I'm not surprised. I didn't have high expectations from him after the Dauphine and after the crashes he had, his body seems to have said "Enough." |

I feel sorry for him. He's had a lot of bad luck in this TdF, maybe he'll get it out of the way and have great luck next year. Disclaimer: "luck" means a lot of things! Cosmic, why didn't you have high expectations? He had great form. Now maybe his form was too good at the CdD and that might have caught up to him in week three of the TdF, but... |

Exactly what you said....his form was on "boil" at the Dauphine, and he dug really deep on that last stage. I expected him to come up flat at some point in the Tour. I never expected him to contend this year and I actually expected pretty much this. No knock on the guy....he has a ton of ability and may well contend in the future. But it wasn't gonna be this year. |

I expected him to be in the mix all the way to Paris and end up between 4th and 10th. I didn't expect him to be on the ground so much though. Maybe winning CdD put too much pressure on him and that is part of the bad luck. |

Dude gets his own coverage. Not that he likely gives a sh1t what this Internet dude thinks, but I'm totally impressed. |

Crosses the line with the broom wagon and a large crowd banging on the barriers. THIS is cycling! |

Way to gut it out Pit Bull! I hope he and the doctors make a sound decision tonight. If he is OK to ride, great, but if not, they need to remember that he is young and will be back to France many times. We talked about sponsor exposure in other threads; this isn't the way he or JV wanted to gain exposure, but the sponsors got big bang for their buck today. Let's not forget that he is the CdD champion this year. For any rider, especially a young one, that one result makes a great season. |

I'd say he made his point today in admirable fashion and should pull out with his head held high. No way he's going to survive the entire Tour. Costa lost a little time today. The process of elimination continues. Valverde's been awfully quiet. I think he's biding his time. Pyrenees are the Spanish favorite hunting grounds (different riding from Alps and more Spain like) and they come last this year. |

I blame that helmet he wears for causing all the wrecks. He's top heavy and his balance is off |

OC, I posted that in a CN thread about AV. He's quietly riding a great TdF. Do I think that he will win, no, but he could. jrt, I know you are just funnin', but I think that the POC lids are actually pretty light (just bulbous). |

That was so bad ass! Especially in contrast to riders that enter the Tour with no intention of finishing (Cipollini for example).
