Happy to read that AC will start the Vuelta -- not likely to be a GC contender but ya never know. Fast healer I guess. Tibia fractures can be pretty quickly put back into action from what I understand as its a non load bearing bone. (Whats it doing there then?)

Non load bearing? The tibia is a ("the") weight bearing bone.

I hope that he isn't rushing his recovery.

He's probably recovers well by eating plenty of red meat.

Prediction: I betcha he can't hang with froome and quintana in the initial mountain stages, but never loses too much time, and ends up making a comeback to a 3rd place podium in the 3rd week (overtaking horner)

Prediction #2: Contador will be using this as a start to getting back to top form next July; that he will take this Vuelta as far as his body and competitive juices take him for a kick-starter on his road back but that what podium spot (if any he gets here matters about zero to AC.

Edit: This is the Tour of Spain and he is (very) Spanish, so he will act quite convincingly that it matters a lot to him.

jm - you are 100% right. Fibula is the non-load bearing bone. Jeez -- how the heck is AC doing this?
