well, it's been tried before.......kind of like the Moots style Pinarello to ride suspension bikes in P-R velonews.com homepage I say you just ride like Cancellara did in 2010, and fly over the cobbles, no need for suspension when you just float over them

When I read the title of the thread, I thought it was going to be regarding the riders that crossed the train tracks while the crossing gates were down. |

I noticed the majority of riders that crashed were the one's who rode completely to the right, almost into the grass, trying to avoid the cobbles. They kept on saying the dryness added dust to the pavement, which made it slippery. There is probably no easy way to get over those things....... |

Any of you fellow old timers remember with US Postal or 7 eleven showed up with modified Trek dual suspension that was disallowed at the last minute? I think it was a Trek Y-foil. I'd love to get a pic of one of those bikes. |

Didn't Sean Yates have some nutty bike with super long chain stays and screwy geometry?

Didn't LeMond (?) use a Rock Shox fork on a road bike? |

I wish a version of what Greg was using, but with all the benefits of current tech was available. Say 70mm travel, with a lockout of course. I guess the market must to too small for the manufacturers to pursue, or at least they think it is. If you want a quality susp fork for an adventure bike, it's an mtb fork or too bad. |

That was a legendary ride by Lemond in '92. Never gets the credit it is due. When Duclos-Lasalle went, Lemond almost singlehandedly controlled the main group and chesed down multiple attacks form the like of Olaf Ludwig, etc. Had he not been 100% dedicated to supporting Duclos-Lasalle, he likely could have won the race himself. @ LSD - 70mm of travel for a road bike? Man, that is a lot of "boing." That would have qualified as a long-travel XC fork back in the day. IIRC, the Rock Shox forks weren't more than 30mm of travel back then. I reckon 40-50mm of travel woudl be more than sufficient. But there is virtually no market for such a product....maybe as the gravel market grows. I rode a Ruby fork in Boulder Roubaix back in the late 90's....didn't really help much. Still got shelled. |
