OC, I still have visions of hitting a curb from one of my early open races, a 3/4 criterium. We were winding up for the sprint. I was on the right following a guy and we were moving up. Guy on his right moved over, he did the same, hit the curb, went down hard and screamed a scream that is still etched in my memory. A fellow racer rode another lap in warm-down and told me after that the guy had a massive and deep cut to his thigh.

I used to ride a bridge sidewalk in Seattle with a high concrete curb at lest a foot high between me and traffic and a concrete and steel wall on the outside. My Lowrider panniers were always closer than comfortable to that curb. I knew for years that if my attention ever slipped, I was going to the hospital. Brushed the bag against the curb on morning, jerked the bars away (knowing full well that going over the curb into the lower roadway and in front of cars wasn't going to end well) and planted my chin on the steel pipe rail. Not serious but plenty of blood. Enough that when I walked into the local hospital blocks away, I got immediate attention, like I have never had after busted bones and the like! Just a couple of stitches, not a big deal.

Bike lanes that are crashes on both sides should be illegal. Or at least, the planners forced to ride them until they crash.)

The result might have been different if Boonen hadn't gotten caught inside on the velodrome. It looked to me like he wanted to move out but couldn't until the very end.

Agreed....he looked like he wanted to make his move earlier, but just couldn't get out.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

did anybody see that video footage of Viviani getting plowed into by the Moto in the Arenberg forest?
Don't know what that guy was thinking, everyone was stopped for a while already, this guys rolls up at like 30mph, and bam, hammers Viviani, dude had his head so far up his arse, he's lucky he did not kill anybody. This guy from Trek rolls up and gives him an earful

There is this kid cheering everyone on, a huge pile up, and then he's gone, he sees the moto coming, his expression says it all

I'll see if I can find that link again

Quite an argument re: discs on OC's link! I started to get drawn in then realized I have a life to live!
