Kristin Armstrong brings it!! 3rd Gold for her, a day before she turns 43!!
Men's TT underway, I hope Cancellara's time holds, Froome was 17 sec. back, and dumoulin was 20 sec. back at the time check

Another great day of racing. Questions: What was Armstrong's bloody nose caused by? Is Taylor phinney as good as he will ever be post crash? |

That is great for Cancellara. He had a pretty quiet final Tour and didn't factor in TTs but perhaps it was building towards this on purpose. Not surprised Dumoulin had to settle for 2nd after a hectic tour and injury. Riding with painkillers today. What the heck is going on with Tony's TTing though? |

He has been fighting a knee injury since the Tour....dropped out on the final day IN Paris because the pain was so bad. As for Mini-Phinney, it is a complete unknown. An injury as severe as he had can take years to recover from, or you simply never get back to what you once were. He apprently had a huge insurance policy that woulda paid out if he had quit following his accident. I admire him for trying to make a comeback., but I also kinda wish he had taken the $$$$.

very happy for Armstrong and Spartacus. But I have to comment on Armstrong's behavior after she finished the TT and asked if she had won. Dont know whether anybody saw this. So she found out she won and calmly unclipped from her pedals and lay down on the wet tarmac in the fetal position and then kind of just writhed around on the ground. It was weird to say the least. Dont know how I'd react. But that was strange. |

Funny query to Leonard Zinn re: the gloves the men's TTT wore. http://velonews.competitor.com/2016/08/bikes-and-tech/technical-faq-olympics-marginal-gains_418210 I find it hard to believe that an analysis of those gloves wasn't done. I suspect a full cost-benefit study was made and it was arrived at that asking the 5 TTT members to shave their hairy knuckles would hurt their head space and power output more than those gloves will cost them. I known that the US Women's team spent a lot of time aero testing in LA at ERO Sports. I also know that the bikes and helmets were tested a LOT and that the guy who runs ERO is a pretty smart guy and understands aerodynamics on the bike better than just about anyone. I therefore find it hard to believe that the gloves weren't tested as well. But yeah, it is certainly counter-intuitive that baggy gloves weren't a detriment. |

Here's the shot that had me puzzled (road race, not TT but still). For Pete's sake, quit using pins! Glue the number and get rid of that parachute. |

While we are talking details that matter: check out photo #21. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/a-final-look-back-at-the-olympic-games-racing-gallery/ UCI's got its priorities solidly in place. Ben
