Who's going well, likes chaos, and can handle the crazy heat and humidity?
Here's my pics and I'll stick by them. Even though I'm probably wrong.
Sagan Cav An Italian.
If you instead propose a random number generator, I get that.

Groenewegen Cavendish Sagan One can only dream (oh, and English is my 2nd language but isn't it "picks"? I can let it go once (header) but twice! :-) |

No, "picks" is good, "predictions" suggests there's some level of intelligence involved in the list which in my case certainly isn't so. |

A few years ago at the US Nats, you could have pic'd Tina Pic for the Womens. I'm at a loss for this pick. Who is the smallest, lightest, best in hot weather fast man? (I don't follow the sprinters very closely.) Ben |

These races are a joke....there is literally no one out on the course watching the women's race. You see bigger crowds at your local office park crit. |

Sagan Cav An Italian
That Booneni guy is one big Italian!
A World Champs RR with all the podium previous winners. Desert racing but with tactics right out of the spring classics. Cavendish, a little guy and NOT a windy classics guy riding a very smart race to be where he had to be all the time. I was rooting for Belgium, not because I went in wanting them to win but because they rode that race as a classic with all the smarts, selflessness and grit the Belgians are known for. Racing as a nation to get enough top riders to be able to field a real team. Get, what 4?, Belgians in the split that the made with two more back in the chase, riding very effectively to ruin the chase's chances.
And there were spectators! Plural. (Cycling News posted a shot of 11 that maybe UCI imported from Europe.)
A race that will be remembered, especially by the spectators! (Edit: it would be fun to calculate the total expenses of putting on this race, divided by the number of spectators to get a cost/in person viewer!)
Ben

Every time I fill my gas tank, that's more money for Merckx to shill for the Emirates. |

Sh*t course + sh*t weather = (similar) race. Still, you have to admire the quality podium and the Belgians for putting the hammer down so effectively. |

Ben - did they count the Dutch women's team cheering on the guys in middle of desert? They may have missed those four. In terms of lack of racing excitement, can't have been worse than Zolder where Cipo won. Brutal race circuit. Crosswinds and Belgians made at least for some action. The orange men and women did pretty good but no cigar. Anyone notice Sagan scored enough WC points to get a team mate, the team mate made the winning break. That 100 percent of Slovak team. Say what?! |
