I've known a bunch of you characters for quite some time. We all share an intense love for riding and wrenching and we have connected through the years because of these mutual interests and through other non cycling related things as well.
It was my great fortune to finally meet in person the great Dale Sargent and afterward I am convinced we need to make getting together to ride a priority. We live in some pretty amazing places and I'm sure we would have a blast getting together and riding.
What do you all think?

And that was AFTER he had the photo touched up!
We seriously had so much fun visiting, we were laughing about some of the characters from the past and reminiscing about some of the ongoing battles between personalities, sruane who passed away, people who went through various personal crisis, people who were completely full of BS but we enjoyed anyway (goatroper), and on and on.
One of the guests told us the VN Tech Talk Forum ought to be the topic of a documentary.
Who would play you in the movie?
*sigh* likely it would be Don Knotts for me |

I'm back in the States - the Methow Valley. I know OC is not too far from here. Sadly, you would all have to go a lot slower and put on many pounds for me to keep pace ; ) |

Methow sadly is quite hard to get to from Vancouver - long ways around. Being on flipside of 25 slow is the only way to go. Hoping to get out there sometime. SidebySide and few others are closer. Bunch of hicks in that photo LOL. Surprised it didn't get banned on FB.

Maybe we could rotate through some of the MS rides as "Team X-VN Forumites". |

Hey smokes, cool idea. I'm bike rider fat, and out of shape, but hey an MS ride? I'll just draft strangers! (Aren't they just like organized free for all rides with rest stops and stuff? Never done one.) Regional representation, I can think of are Albuquerque, Tuscon, Santa Fe and Colorado... Nick |

The MS rides have a registration fee and a minimum fund-raising amount, usually around $20 - $60 and $200 - $500, respectively. Lots of rest stops and support. I just did the Cape Cod Getaway [http://main.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR?fr_id=28124&pg=informational&sid=13240] with my son and his friend. In the last 25 years, I've done 50 or 60 of these rides. My wife has MS, so that gives me an incentive. As I've noted before, I'm a recreationist, not a racist. I made a deal with my heart a few years ago: I take it easy up hills, and it keeps beating. So far the pact has worked. |

Thanks Smokey for the info. That's rough for you and your wife...sorry to hear about it. I see one will be in Santa Fe, NM at the end of August, and there was one near Phoenix in March and one a couple of days ago near Denver (not sure if these tend to be annual affairs). I hate flying with a passion, but would be down with anything within "a long day's drive" from Albuquerque. Aw hell, maybe I'd go even further? LOL. Nick |
