Making very poor decisions with real negative effects on riders and races.
http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/chaos-at-cascade-costs-bassett-chance-at-stage-win/
Arranging the race schedule so two different races do not finish at the same time and place isn't rocket science. (And this has happened before, same stage, same race.)
I suspect the first time this happened, the race was under OBRA, a much smaller and poorer organization. I also suspect that if it had stayed under OBRA, they would have taken action so it wouldn't happen again. This time it is US Cycling putting on two UCI races. Doesn't get much bigger. Their screw-up caused a crash and cost pro riders places, money and recognition. (Last year's men's stage winner on target to do it again and hitting a woman fighting for her place on the GC. Huh?)
US Cycling keeps finding new ways to keep me from becoming one of their fans.

It took a Steve Tilford blog and firestorm for them to finally ditch the 80% rule that pissed off racers for years. Kids scheduled to a 20 minute race getting pulled at the end of one lap (about a mile lap) and on and one.
USAC is so out of touch it's pathetic.

Sort of related: I'm trying to become a USAC ref. The website, quite simply, is a mess. Links to dead ends. No direct route to get the info you need. Emails for help ignored. I'm close to giving up.

Wow, things haven't changed in decades. I remember being a junior in the 80's and getting caught by one of the senior groups in race in Central Park. We weren't supposed to draft from them, but when dozens of guys are swarming around you, it's kinda hard not catch a little shelter.
