Anyone else notice how very lean Farrar is looking these days?
I wonder whether this is part of a strategy to beat Cav (and the others), to arrive less fatigued at the finish line when there are hills in a stage?
He's shown more form this week than he has in a long time (not crashing, off course, helps with that) - beating Sagan to the line two days in a row is pretty impressive (even though Yesterday they were sprinting for 2nd)

I haven't noticed, but if so, good on him. I thought he would have given up the sprinting game in favor of being a classic or breakaway rider since the sprinting field at the tour seems quite crowded and he is consistently around 5th-10th place (or at least that's where he was last year).

He mentioned in an interview that he has refocused on sprinting rather than trying to be an all-around rider. And some smarter attention towards conserving energy helps a lot.
When he won that sprint he looked as if he simply decided he wasn't going to lose - started pretty far out and just kept at it to the end. Good Job!

I think that last year outside of the TOC he had about zero success - so it'll be interesting to see if he can do anything outside California after this race.
Watching Cav walk by you repeatedly can't help one's psyche at all.. I'd like to see him get a result or two in Europe - but I would not bet $$ on it.

If he's leaner than the intent would likely be on Sagan/Gilbert type finishes rather than beating Cav. Maybe this signals he's given up on that notion and is refocusing.
