He complained about other teams not working at Flanders after Terpstra went. Got me thinking - what does Sagan get paid vs what the top 4 of Q-S get paid? (Terpstra, Gilbert, Lampaerts and Viviani.) It seems Sagan has Oss when the going gets tough and no others. And sending Oss up the road just desn't care people.
Granted, this is just the Spring Classics, not the big Tours. Still, one team had racked up most of the TV coverage and conversation
Is there a source where we can see the contracts of the riders? (Really shouldn't be, but way too much public knowledge is the way we function now.) I'm sure Q-S' budget is way beyond Bora's but how many more good teammates could Sagen attract if he was willing to take a pay cut? And how much does Q-S pay its guns vs what Bora pays Sagan? I'd expect Gilbert to be paid decently, but he is hardly a Sagan-type star. Neither is Terpstra. But wow!, does Q-S get good bang for the buck from those guys! And Lampaert. And others.

Most of the good classics riders do very little in the GTs.
Sagan is a major player in spring, summer and fall. Add charisma and good looks. IMO he earns a top tier payday.

I'm not arguing his worth. Just suggesting he is passing up wins with his big paycheck.

If wins were ultimate objective then yes. But they're not. Wins are just one means to the end that's publicity.

I've been involved in a bunch of sponsorship ordeals-- both on the giving and the receiving.
Too many people think they deserve a ton of stuff (cash or merchandise) just because they are at or near the top of the field.
Jonathan Page is an amazing racer but comes across prickly then can't understand why he doesn't get the sponsorship deals other had.
It's not about the winning, it's about selling stuff for your sponsors.

I know I am in the (extreme) minority, but I’m just not a Sagan fan.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

He attacks, adjusts his Specialized front stem for the cameras, stays away the rest of the race. Spec says no he's not.
