Ben - of course this is completely useless. If you want to Everest, you climb Everest. Period. Laps in some LA suburb? Meh.

I do wonder though if riding up Mauna Kea 2x would count. Although it is a single ascent there's a few turns/different roads that might invalidate such an attempt. It may also come up about 1400 feet short.
