Is he not the most unlucky rider or is it his style, Is he just to aggressive, not a good bike handler. or poor tactician? He has had some good results and a great domestic. Not a leader. Why?

Not much to be done about an errand water bottle, almost a repeat scenario from Wiggins although this was more indirect.

The fragility comes with territory of being a super lightweight. Watch someone like MVDP take a hard smack in Flanders two years ago or at cyclocross worlds this year. He just remounts and goes.

As to unlucky, Kelderman is up there, he didn’t even get to start his season. Sep is an unlucky guy too, but mostly untimely mechanicals that prevent him from contesting.

Re: VdP and his wreck. The guy looks like a middle linebacker with his broad shoulders and overall build. I looked up his stats and he's listed at 6' and 165 pounds (1.83m and 75 kilos in the rest of the world) but looks huge compared to most ofd the pro peloton.

VDP looks like bike racers used to look in the old days, like a guy you could grab off the street, just super fit. These days a lot of them look like they have an eating disorder. Pommes frites FTW.

Go back and look at old pics of Lemond back in the day and how "big" his upper body was....and vs. the "regular public" he was rail-thin.

MVP is "normal" by any reasonable metric, but relative to the population of the peloton, he looks enormous.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

By comparison Froome is an inch taller and 20 pounds lighter! Not a healthy look... Michael Rasmussen bad

LeMond used to go cross skiing in the winter and bulked up, then lost muscle mass as the season wore on. What little Froome and Rasmussen ate they likely did so with a with a cut down carbon fiber spoon. Neither of whom look like they could hold their own in a second grade arm wrestling contest. Not that I have room to talk but still...

I was midway height-wise between MvdP and Froome and raced at 145. 150-155 is my non-race norm. 160 is too much. When people start telling me I look good or healthy, I know I have at least 5 pounds to lose. (For my health, never mind the bike. I've known this since my second year at college.)

I ate like a horse to maintain that 145!  24 years old and piling on the mileage.  There was a buffet with fresh salads and homemade bread.  I put them out of business.

I laughed at Froome’s video review of his new Factor bike when he complained that the bars weren’t stiff enough.

Yeah, like he was noticeably flexing his bars with those toothpicks sticking out of his t-shirt.

I wonder about their bone mineral density, no facts just wondering. Starvation diet relative to energy expenditure, non weight bearing sport. Could make for fragile bones.
