Both the men's and the women's.  Didn't get my choices; Vos, Alaphilippe or Valverde but excellent racing none the less.  (I'd have liked to see Valverde pull off #5 but he really did less than the others, so not quite podiuming is fair.)  Two French riders on the podium sounds right.  But the Dutch and Belgians - where were they?

So just one more Monument to go (and oops! P-R which may be a Depression era dust bowl).  On to the Giro and pre-Tour tours.

Sporza was saying the Belgians haven’t done well in this race for over a decade. Not really a Dutch race either. Italians and Spanish more so.

Vollering is the natural successor of Anna.

The men’s race was also better than usual. Bringing finish back to downtown has worked well.

And always fun to watch a race where you’ve ridden the course. Twice in the late 80s as sportif.

Fun.

Can't help but root for the old man.

Best part is the old man was riding with number 41 pinned on his back on his birthday.

Tactically he approached that sprint like a junior being put on front like that. Pogacar sprinted with experience getting behind the correct wheel and waiting for right moment. And yes Ineos put in a valiant effort although riding without a proper finisher. And fortunately Carapaz didn’t win it would have been awful getting DQd for super tuck.

Yeah, when he accidentally overtook Alaphilippe in the corner, it wasn't so good...

Good race...last 40k was fun to watch.

Carapaz DQ’d for super tuck position. Woulda been interesting if he had won to see what they would have done.

I saw a shot of one of the breaks descending and thought "they're doing this right!" In the drops (well one on the tops), on the seat, bent low, knees in. Just classic.

Just a little plug.  Fifth place Michael Woods is good friends with my across the road neighbors here in Vermont.  The two families have been close for a long, long time.  I did meet Michael's parents a while back when they were visiting my neighbors.  Nice folks.

Word is he is in good form this year.  Kinda fun to have someone to root for.

Woods is a good guy. Always ready to mix it up and race. Too bad he doesn't have a good finish shot.

And Wood wins one. Although it took a Thomas crash in final 50 m.
