I just saw that this is the second time around for Declerq; that he got sick last winter.  Sagan three times.  Pretty certain that Sagan has never vaxxed.  Declerg?  How many more of the peloton are not vaxxed?  Or, how much healthier could the peloton be?  It may be that we are now seeing a largely post vax, COVID as a working hazard world but I still wonder how much of the new cases are because of those who refuse.

I'm nearly 9 months since my booster so it could be argued I"m not a saint.  Deliberate.  I"m riding Cycle Oregon in September in central Oregon.  Lots of people, the closest quarters I will have seen since COVID started and in anti-vax country.  I want to be 3-4 weeks post booster (and the latest, best booster out there) when I show up.

And some fun (and idle) speculation - I wonder if anyone has ever tried to estimate Tim Declerg's effect on TdF average speeds.  Is there any other single rider who has affected race finish times more in recent history?  (There's a Tour bureaucrat frantically moving up start times so the stages can finish on schedule after this news. )

Reportedly Declercq was fully vaxxed but still developed Pericarditis and now he is hit again. Just unlucky.

Sagan was not vaxxed and got hit three times but last one was fully asymptomatic.

Probably same percent vaxxed versus not as general population would be my guess.

Moderna has an omicron fighter booster, but the wheels turn slowly on this course.

Speaking of boosters, what's the logic in not yet offering the second booster to those under 50? I've only had a single booster and that was last October. Seems like people all around me are coming down with it, and their symptoms are far from light.

After all the fighting to get people actually vaccinated, here we are begging to get another shot yet they won't give one to us. Would help reduce the spread so what gives?

The thinking is risk of serious illness is so low if otherwise healthy that it’s not worth the small risk.
