The strongest won but that was all kinda weird from JV. No tactic to sacrifice one guy for the other. They got so close to Pidcock and then let him slip away again. Maybe they were all maxed out but it seemed odd and clearly Benoot was not happy with him teammate. Odd women finish too.

Both races with questionable tactics. Racing for second rather than for the win.

Odd indeed.

Excepting Pidcock! He passed on the cyclocross worlds for a day like this.

Exciting races all the way around, questionable tactics or not.

Such a great parcours….loved this race was the start.

Pidcock is just an amazing bike handler. The way he opened those gaps on the descents was obscene.

Yeah Pidcock was impressive both uphill and downhill.

Women’s race tactics were totally fine and well fought race. My comment on odd finish was about what happened after. Vollering is a strong rider but a bit of a mental basket case. So that wait to get a winner declared was a major roller coaster.

The horse is apparently fine only suffering a major scare.

I turned off the coverage because I thought for sure Kopecky had won...and saw people congratulating her. My daughter was waiting to watch F1 Qualies with me, so I just called it good and didn't bother to follow-up.

I magine my surprise later that night when I saw Vollering had won!!

BIG time!!

She came down to ask me a question in 2021 on the final race as they got to the infamous restart and I had to say "wait...I need to watch this".

She was instantly interested and we now watch all the races together....she definitely knows more about the drivers than I do and arguably has a better grasp on the strategies, as well.

It is awesome to be able to watch with her...we have a great time yelling and laughing at the race during all the passes, etc.

Interesting because I don't think F1 racing is all that exciting and I didn't think it could capture the attention of a teen. So much depends on the car (in fact car/team explain 90% of F1 wins as opposed to the racer; in cycling its diametrically opposite with 90% of wins explained by the individual rider and 10% is team; someone ran all the stats on this; in a sport like soccer its 50/50).

Yes, strategy is key, especially tire strategy is huge. Only reason why I am paying somewhat attention is because Verstappen (he's known as the "tire whisperer" but I am sure your daughter told you that already) is from same area as where I grew up (they still run a kart track near my parents).

The most advanced cars in the world race on a narrow tiny track. I get the history, but F1 today is like NHL games played on a frozen kiddie pool.

Well, she is 21 so....😜

OK, seriously....had she not walked down at THE critical moment of the 2021 season, I don't know if I ever would have gotten her to watch it. But she saw how excited I was for that last lap and had many questions once the race was over. It just kinda snowballed from there....and some of it is assuredly because she has a bit of a crush on Charles LeClerc. 😂
