Missed it live, just watched the replay. Fantastic finale. VDP was shot out of cannon. Reminiscent of Cancellara dropping Tom Boonen in Flanders many years ago.

That was vintage VDP. With good help from UAE, the setup by Wellens then Pog, Trentin letting the gap drop to those behind (if he doesn’t do that we’re looking at a bunch sprint finish). Letting Wout close the gap was also key. Everyone was on the ropes when we made that move. Well played.

The tell tale signs were all there for everyone to see, he posted the pic of grandpa winning mid-week, jokes at the press conference, chitchatting with SKA on Cipressa.

Yeah, when Trentin sat up it was GO TIME for everyone else but they didn't or couldn't react and the field finish was out of the question.

In hindsight, we should have all seen this coming but just about everyone had him down a bit on the list of favorites after his “struggles” at Strade and T-A.

Strade was his first road race after CX season, so a ride welcome back race while still finding your legs. Later that week he is going OK, but not setting the world alight….but helping his teammate while getting great training.

This was all with the goal of peaking for Holy Week, but the payoff is already hitting. You can Bluff your way through a lot of MSR, save your bullets for the Poggio and blast off.

He showed yesterday that no one can match his one minute power..w/kg mean nothing when he generates the sheer raw power he is capable of.

Master class yesterday.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

Thanks Dale for that link. I watched the CN Live Report so I knew MVP did something special but seeing it! Wow!
