Excellent weekend. Signed up for the 150k cyclo (training in cold conditions this year didn’t fancy the 240k full pull), managed to cover it in good speed despite the brisk and crip northeaster. Between the Roubaix and Amstel rental becoming a Canyon fan. The cyclo is quite the experience, first stop they had a DJ playing house music in a meadow. That’s when you know you’re in NL. After stop latched on to a nice group. After about a km I glanced at the name on entry number in front of me, it turned out to be that Adrie! Quite the coincidence after seeing his son win at Roubaix velodrome a week earlier. Of course I was summarily dropped on the next climb. Good finish, managed to pull a mini Pog on Keutenberg and then a speedy cruise to finish. Next day watched the pro races with my dad. Four passages of womens race on their local lap. On lap 2 or 3 noticed van Vleuten doing a lot of staring at her top tube, wasn’t going to be her day. Then time for lunch and some beers before first passage of men. Pog was still in the 10-15 ish group with Jumbo in pursuit. Decided to walk along course partway back to car and caught Pog, Ben and Tom at around the 15km to go mark flying down a curvy downhill in the middle of nowhere. By the time Benoot, Vermeersch etc came by they were already in chatting mode. Good stuff.

Thanks gents. Strange waking up this morning thinking Flèche would be on but realizing they’re only starting this afternoon. Edit, aside from it also being Tuesday not Wednesday lol.

Anyway for me it’s getting dropped off at train station, a Belgian waffle + Leffe Blonde before departure, on to Charles de Gaulle airport, tonight final dinner with sister who’s coming up from Paris (we already hung out in Roubaix) and then back to reality tomorrow.

CK - don’t you have an event coming up?

FNLD GRVL is in less than 2 months....may do a warmup event beforehand.

Legs are pretty sluggish this year....I can go all day, but right now I have no *pop*. Which I guess is OK for gravel events, but I jsut don't feel as sharp as previous years.

But I can't wait for Finland....should be an awesome experience!!

Ah yes Finland I forget.

Aside from the event you should attempt a ride above the arctic circle in the tundra. That’s the first thing that came to mind right now.
