Huge motor. For 3 weeks? Yes maybe, did rather well in the vuelta. Can he handle a bike when it’s not easy? This is where he is a light year from Eddy a a zillion other great riders. He’s so bad at present that a GT course designer could really hurt him based on descents.

Analog, I was a mediocre cat 2 in New England in the late 70s and early 80s. I frequently rode with and against far better athletes who were primarily xc skiers. Huge motors. Only one ever beat me, and only once.

Ahem your impression on his descending skills is about two years outdated. It was flagged back then he took expert training and can hold his own quite well at present.

I think there are 2 big questions re: Remco right now:

* Did he come in to the Giro too hot, and can he sustain his form?

* Can he hang on to Rog's wheel in the high mountains?

While he took a big chunk of time on Sat, the last week of the Giro is brutal this year and there is plentyof time for Rog to regain the lost time....but I think he can't chip away. He'll need time in bigger chunks than that, I think. Which will mean he can't do his usual "wait until the last few hundred meters and springt away" tactic.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

I enjoyed today's stage. But this Giro desperately needs Remco! The GC group has been napping. Putting the pink jersey on breakaway riders? Well, at least they are not asleep.

And edit:  Only right that all the jerseys except the young rider's is on the back of GC riders!  (And Leknessund is only 20 seconds back.)
