Gwin was dominant on TREK but not so much on Specialized. A 20th and a 6th so far this season. I didn't notice until tonight that there is no forum for professional dirt racing! ;{

You have to wonder what's up eh. He just went to a large frame too. Something is not working right. Not a fan of his at all. But still.

Why aren't you a fan? I dislike that he talks about his faith too much but as far as his on the bike style he is great IMO. The American snob part of me likes that we have a guy who can compete at the WC level again. I always dislike it when anyone talks about their faith making them do better than others. Yah, gods like you better than the other guy/team.
When I quit racing moto and came to mountain bikes ('90), I raced XC and DH. When I decided to try being a pro, I chose XC because I quit moto due to injuries and I saw DH taking me down the same trail. There are times that I wish I would have given DH another two or three years. I want to get a 6" (ish) travel bike and try a few enduros/Super Ds next year. I thnk that I hijacked my own thread! ;}

It is only partly the religious thing and he comes off a little arrogant at times which might be a media thing. Not questioning his ability because he's got it.

Not a lot of dirt action but stilll this forum works way better than the old Velo forum.
I wondered what happened to Gwin this year. He just hasn't been as explosive in the first lap nor as dominant throughout the race. Don't know how much a difference the bike makes but clearly something is off.
Could be training, an off season illness, or perhaps the Specialized just doesn't have the same 'feel'.
I've jumped of my XC bike a few times to try out buddies nearly identical set-up but different OEM frame / suspension bike only to fiind that I'm light years slower, or feel like I'm working harder to hold the same speed / line.
Sure, time in the saddle will help but the instant transfer of performance from one to the other is a lot harder and more subjective in MTB riding than on road bikes. At least IMHO.
