There goes Trek proving that they really haven't learned anything about the LA error. Why not start fresh and re-build instead of signing up ole dopers hoping for a flash in the pan. People have hope for Andy to come back, but he is old news and on his way out. We know local talent is available and saw some during TOC. Someone tell John Burk to invest in bright young futures not the old. What is wrong with people!!

--eh I dont know. I do think a team with Fabian on it is worth sponsoring. Schlecks I can understand some ambivalence. But signing up Fabes is worthwhile imo

Everyone needs a wet nurse, I suppose.

But yeah, I am very disappointed in Trek in signing Frank. Moreover, to basically whitewash his doping suspension.

Joe V. should know better.

"Trek Signs the Schleck Bros for 14" That's 14k EU/year, no? For each or both? Might possibly be worth that level of investment.

Ben - good one!

I would suggest that we'd need to see what the free agent market looks like before that decision can be evaluated. Maybe they are thinking that the Schlecks are birds-in-the-hand?

AT the end of the day, Trek is gonna be shopping for a new title sponsor. Given the climate for today's view of cycling, is having a guy fresh of a doping suspension your best approach to get new sponsors interested?

They may be "birds-in-the-hand" but that doesn't mean they aren't schitting on your hand as well.

No fan of Frandy, but I hear the Schlecks are immensely popular with 1999ers and 7 fanboys. So is it such a bad call?

i'd be making wholesale changes to create a team in Garmin's image -- dump frandy, popovich, kloden, horner (all over the hill and/or former dopers), maybe keep jens on for another year because he's good for a lot of press, look to build around bakelants and of course put all your effort around fabian in the one days; then go pay for someone who could really challenge for a top 5 GC -- richie porte would be my pick, or maybe even wiggo, since sky will cast their lot with froome from here on out.

LA was not an error for Trek without Lance they would not be where they are today.

stronz, I'm assuming you mean that FC is a good signing from a results standpoint not as a model of clean racing. I won't say anymore unless this thread get moved to the dark side.
