In general I was never a fan of american made bikes, especially road bikes. Most of my road bikes are Euro bikes and Italian features prominently including my Canadian Marinoni's.
My MTBs have mostly been smaller Canadian Manufacturers except my Fischer Hoo Koo E Koo.
This year I bought a Trek superfly 100. I am never slagging this company again. Never has a bike made such a profound effect on my riding. The bike has made me a better rider. Yes some of it is the 29" wheels but this execution is so good. Big companies like Trek, giant, and Specialized have huge R&D budgets and they can make a lot of improvements in single model changes, unlike smaller builders that improve more in an iterative way with big changes over several years. So now when Trek announces a new bike I have started to pay attention.
