Just what the peloton needed; another predominantly black kit.  Not sure what I think about the pinstripes....

There are two reasons as I see it for the designers of team outfits to pick bright, even obnoxious colors. 1) Team members are less likely to get maimed or killed while training solo by inattentive drivers. Losing riders directly affects race results, advertising at the front and therefore the bottom line. And 2) the wannabees who buy these kits and wear them riding run the same risks. Now, whether wannabees getting bumped off is good or bad, well I won't address that issue. But they are humans and deserve some consideration as such.

And Trek picking that outfit? They flunk both badly. And there are a few thousand wannabees who will wear those colors. You would think Trek would care just a little about a market pool so large.

@SWG, LOL - although I did say "predominantly".
To be fair, Trek's logo is a red/white shield with their name in black below it. So, not so much questioning their colors as much as the overuse of one vs. the other two.
I'm not a designer bit I have some friends who are graphic designers and they're a little preplexed as well regarding the designs of some team kits.

I completely agree with Ben. I will not wear a black or dark blue jersey as a top layer.

Shorts and shoes should be black; jerseys should be distinctive and colorful.

I like it. But bright is safer to be sure. maybe if all other pro teams have bright colours the black then stands out? But then OPQS are mostly black too. Who else is dark? Movistar dark blue.

Black must be hot in France in July. But please wear black shorts. It's just embarrassing now.

That kit blows......but as bad as it is, I'd much rather ride in that than the POC helmets Garmin is gonna have on top of their noggins this year!!

I just looked a the Cance pic, its like he's sleeveless on one side and has a sleeve on the other. That has got to be the ugliest kit I have ever seen.

The Trek jerseys look like they were inspired by my local shop. http://steedcycles.com/featured/aldergrove-lake-race-report/

The team is green and black but the club jerseys are black with one white sleeve. With the green shorts it is quite hideous. With all black shorts much less so and I do like being Ron Obvious on the road.

Black jerseys (or helmets) in the southwest sun are brutal.

Black helmets aren't any hotter than light colored helmets....maybe urface temp, but the styrofoam insulates the rider from any additional heat.

I almost always get black helmets. I have had white ones and can't say I noticed any difference. But we don't get much heat here.
