I watched an interview with Mark Cavendish on the BBC's Hard Talk program last night. He's a lot more thoughtful than I previously thought, not that I ever underestimated him. It was a pretty good interview. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFMj_J5ykFo

I'll watch that later at home tonight. Nice link. I watched the start where it is mentioned that he has short legs. I saw a review of his bike this AM and noted that he is 5'8" and his saddle height is 68cm from bb to saddle. I'm not even 5'5" and I run mine at 69.5. I know I have long legs (and arms) but geez.

For the record, Cav is more like 5'4. Cyclists fudge their height more than Hollywood stars.

Maybe he's shrunk; he's downsizing his bike by a whoopin 3 cm this year to gain more sprinting speed.

Nice interview and good comeback on the doping question referencing the BBC peeps after almost getting ridden into the boards on that question.

Always had respect for the guy.

I have always had mad respect for Cavendish's sprints...who wouldn't? However, I haven't been a big fan, but that was a good interview.

I have always liked him. even his brashness and the early post win interviews. a Real sprinters mentality. After I saw him working for the Isle of Man team at the Commonwealth Games in India I think he went up in my estimation. It was not beyond him to help the team at the TT where he was not competing. He definitely was no primaDonna.

He seems pretty real and has a hard time keeping up a public persona. His clear passion and thoughtfulness (sure - you have to wait for at least an hour after a race is over to see that side) make him likeable to me.

Like most athletes in intense situations (see football/American), he would be better served by waiting a half hour or so after the sprint before addressing the media.

Whose gonna tell said media to wait half an hour before sticking a mike in riders' faces? The juicy stories are to be had immediately after the race ends.
