German admits to being under the influence of alcohol

Actually he denies that alcohol was a factor but based on police report that is not very believable. What a mess. This will make him a repeat offender.

According to the article, which has been updated since it first hit the web, he had admitted to being hammered.

it's a cry for help.

Ah, yes I see the confession now. The usual "shocked", "inexcusable" blah.

At least Boonen has learned to only race his car on a track where he can just do damage to himself; as he did this year racing Niki. Some mature, some don't.

Too bad for Jan. Hopefully the injuries are not serious.

He should have called his friend Uber for a lift.

once again we learn that being a highly successful cyclist does not mean you have your $4it together in other areas of life. In fact achieving glory in the pro peleton may actually be a strong predictor that you have serious problems in other areas of your life. Just so many of these guys are, or become, train wrecks. The list is long....I hope Jan can get his act together. BTW -- is he still considered the winner of 1997 TdF? Did he confess using epo during that race? Cant remember.
