I saw that the Tour is starting at her birthplace and there is to be a tribute to her, so I went to Wikipedia.  Wow!  Poked around a little more and came to this photo of her out training.  (Scroll down twice.)  Dressed to go to work as a secretary, riding a fix gear with one (Mafac) brake, fenders, rear rack and big English saddlebag.  And riding shoes.

The secretary you would never want to challenge in a 100 mile TT!
