Decided not to get a new Ridley, because I love my frame but it's been five years so I have the upgrade itch! Decided to go Ultegra Di2. I have the drive train ordered and on the way. And just sold my Chorus 11 group for $600 that came with the bike. I gotta say I'm pretty excited, can't wait. |

You're gonna love it....I had a few drowing pains with my stuff, but that was due to me not ordering some of the right stuff (wrong junction box A for internal battery, etc). But I really like riding it....super smooth and effortless. I still wish they had more of a difference between the two shift paddles, but it is a pretty minor gripe overall (gripe grows though when wearing long-fingered gloves ) Full report once you get it up and running.....with pics, of course!! |

I currently have Campy Record group set and would love to trade it in for Ultegra (heck yeah I'll downgrade). In the past three years my experience is been constant torqueing and maintenance, unlike the Shimano group set. Over engineered I think. |

Enjoy. I did not go with it cuz of the winter glove issue. Shimano has a great product there with their electrics. It is still kind of weird to be on a group ride and hear that buzzing noise and takes a minute to remember, dude has Di2. |

Check this out. Got a quote from Alibaba.com Ultegra Di2 group $556. I don't have a spare $556 to gamble but ignites curiosity. Have the drive train, now need the electric stuff best price I could find is $997 from planetcyclery.com that will happen this week. |

Wheels, Ultegra hub, HED Belgium C2 (25 mm) Plus rims, tubeless ready (w/o valve) Cost; 620 - 160 I would of had to spend to convert old Ardennes - 379 Price I sold old Ardennes for ------ $81.00 Sensible set of wheels great for the farms roads, and general use. I'll save for dream wheels ENVE, or Zipp. Getting there started y'day taking my time. FD set up...EZ P-Z Random FireCraker 50 shot from this year

Di2 is great I have the Calfee internal battery for mine. I had my first growing pain with it this past weekend. the plug that goes into the battery fell out, suddenly I had no shifting. Luckily I was only three miles from home and rode it home in 39x13. The fix was also easy, fish the wire up the seat tube and plug it back in, secure with a small piece of tape. While I was at it, I charged the battery since it hadn't been about a year ago that I charged it last.

Hah....had a similar problem to Dan last week. Hit a pothole on the group ride and knocked the wire out of the battery. Had to do the entire ride in a 53x15. Not a horrible gear to get stuck in for a flat group ride, bnut kinda sucked coming out of turns. - 160 I would of had to spend to convert old Ardennes Aaaarrggghhh...... "would have", or if you must, "would've". There is no phrase "would of". /pet peeve |

Yep agree unreal best way to shift a bike ever. But the thing I'm most impressed with is the wheels set HED Belgium C2 PLUS. Unreal its like skiing in soft snow, the ride is crazy good. I have 28's on there. (25mm PR3, really 28mm) unreal, like butter. Super stoked.

Mmmmmm.....bike pjorn. Nice sled....well done!! I was all stoked last weekend because I rode out to Bull Valley (minimum 60 miles round trip)....but they are the only hills in the Chicago area. Or at least the only hills that require you to use your FD. I think I had used my FD a total of twice before that ride.....and that was just to see if it worked. Di2 front shifting is the freakin' schitt!! |

I just realized having an extra wire or two on a ride might not be a bad thing. Removing Di2 wire I have for sale from Ebay, at once. Agree about the FD, the other day I was riding getting ready to apply the pressure to shift to the BR and realized it's just a button. Not used to it yet I guess. |

Quick heads up....don't know if you did any mix & match on the components, but apparently the latest firmware update form Shimano will make any mixture of parts incompatible. All my stuff is the 6700 (10 spd) stuff, but my Junction Box A is the 5 port box. Based on what I have seen so far, I *believe* that if I update the firmware, I will be SOL. Other people are running 6700 shifters with 6800 derailleurs and their systems no longer function. Even if I am not screwed because of the junction box, if I ever want to upgrade to 11 spd, I will now need an entire system. That had been my plan all along....update the RD (that is where the "brains" of the shifting is located) and just keep my 6700 shifters. Not that I am moving to 11 spd anytime soon ('cuz it is dumb), but pretty disappointing move from Shimano.

CK, with that, Shimano just lost me. No compatibility when nothing mechanical is required to do it? All they had to do was stick a geek in a dark room with a computer screen. More reason to stick to my fixies with their century of backwards compatibility. Ben |
