I am going to "Cut the Cable" and go towards something else. Looking at new flat panel televisions and want to be able to watch more cycling events than are presently available (here in the U.S.). Internet Ready, Web Enabled, and Smart TVs are some ideas that I am looking at. Also using a laptop with HDMI connectivity is another approach. Any suggestions/recommendations? Cycling.tv is one website that seems like it may provide me what I am looking for. Any others? Interested in Tour, Vuelta, Giro, and other GTs as well as major one day events. Recording capability would be nice. Or delayed viewing would be better. Lou...

Dunno how it is now, but cycling.tv was a complete scam / joke in the past. Horribly unreliable, extra fees for all the major races and damn near impossible to cancel (rising to the level of unethical practices, IMO).

There are a number of websites through which you can stream races live (steephill.tv, cyclingfans.tv, etc), but also raise the chances of viruses if you aren't careful. Delayed playback is also an issue there.

Universal Sports may have some options, but likely requires a subscription to their cable channel, so that is out for you.

Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

Unfortunate that we live where networks could give a flynig freewheel about a sport we love so much. Apparently the US public would rather watch guys wearing knitted hats, and wearing sunglasses, playing poker.

universal is hit or miss. the tour is available for about $30 and they have a delayed broadcast if you can't watch it live. the didn't show the giro though. i watched the giro on the italian channel rai. you have to jump through some hoops to get it and the video quality is sometimes a little rough and it's all in italian but they had a delayed broadcast also. you have to set up some sort of internet trickery that i can't remember the name of but the website was called 'hide my ass'. you basically get your computer to pretend it's in the country of broadcast. i watch a lot of the european cyclocross races on the youtube channel cyclocrossable. they are all in flemish but still fun to watch. the uci has a channel but they block almost everything. their logic defys me.
How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.

I found some app…NBC? …dunno… that I used on my iPad to watch streaming. Might have been $15.00

Skinny, my daughter used to crack up at me watching cycling with the volume turned up listening to but not understanding hardly a word of Flemish. My favorite was when Boonen missed a break and the announcer said, in accented English, "Tom, tom, Tom, ve have a problem!"
