I am the epitome of jack of all trades, master of none. I'm not a "real" computer geek, but I'm the one friends and family ask for help. I bought a cheap used desktop and installed Debian Linux on it. I haven't really taught myself much of anything. I can access files on my networked Windows computer, and well, that's about it. Any of y'all do anything with Linux? Nick

Nick, I did the same with an old pc about 10 yrs ago. Used it for web and email for awhile but really since I'm staring at this stuff all day at work, it's the last thing I want to think about when I get home.

My only current reason for keeping the extra computer in an "extra" room, is because one of my dogs pees in there. Apparently, some dogs think that if a room is unoccupied, it's fair game.

So, yeah, I check e-mail, and use the internet on it occasionally. I even invite her in there, and talk to her in baby talk, telling her this is part of our house. :-)

Spent a $100 on the system used, and another $70 on a bigger hard drive. Not a huge investment.

LOL.
