I know Huckleberry picked up and moved to central Mexico recently, but has anyone else moved abroad? The significant other and I are contemplating moving to either Spain or italy with the only conditions being that we are near the ocean and mountains. Just curious to hear about the experience of others.

I did..and ended up on this end. Oh wait, that's not what you're asking for.

So typically folks moving abroad will do a lot of griping about how things were so much better where they came from. I actually have a friend who moved to US as a student...couldn't handle it....moved back to NL...couldn't handle that anymore and now she's back in US. The grass is rarely greener with a move...you win some you lose some. It's all a balance.

Agree somewhat Jos. In my case the grass was really greener and it is for that reason I'm returning. After a year living there I am confident in my choice to return. Between the culture, people, food, healthcare and climate there really isn't a comparison. Not to mention Chatto and Socio!

He just turned 72 and is excited at the prospect of my return. He now does a lot of mountain bike masters races which he has been winning frequently. He also got bit by the endurance bug and has done 24 hour mtb races.
