What?!!! The above link doesn't seem to work and I can't find anything about what happened.

The link is his blog and it's been swamped.
Looks like this is the wreck with no names mentioned but it's the right location and time.

Talked to him at a couple of events and was at a dinner party with him at CX Nats in Austin.
Really an interesting guy with ten lifetimes of travel and experiences.

Yeah, I also checked Twitter and it is confirmed by Race Radio and others..... That article matches some of the description from the blog (and helped clarify some of it....it was understandably a bit incoherent). Sounds like the van Steve was in hit an overtunred semi and went through the trailer....the driver got out, Steve was still in the van when another semi came through and hit the van he was in.... Awful news...
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

Sounds like a terribly freak and tragic accident. First semi rolls then presumably Steve and passenger hit the wreckage but escaped only to then have another semi crash into the debris. Like something out of Final Destination.
He was such a cool dude. Never seemed to slow down with age and was always humble and a joy to be around. Hell, it was awesome to race with him and just know that you were on his wheel! Such a loss to the Kansas racing community and bike racing as a whole.
RIP, Steve.

JUST saw this in a friend's FB post. God DAMN it! Like I said there, too soon to even be sad. Just pissed. Not clear why the semi crashed, but still just angry at the randomness.
Nick
