I was just thinking, can we store and download files on this site? If so, we could build an Excel or other archive of our local hills for comparison. Would be fun. I have an Excel of the above graph.

Hardest race climb I "enjoyed" was Mt. Washington, at 12.2 km a bit longer than Seymor (black line), but 1400+m elevation gain makes it HC for this chart.
Another variable when comparing: any climb is hard if it's at high altitude.

I am impressed with how straight the Mt Baker line is? One of those Army core of roads?

Master50 - no, that just lack of detailed data on the climb and my laziness to look them up. I pulled the numbers from the Baker Hillclimb Race Ride542 profile. It is a pretty even-Steven climb though, except for the run-in from Glacier, but not as straight as that.

Baker is a very consistent grade. But unlike Cypress and Seymour it has steep tight switchbacks particularly at the top to Artist Point whereas Cypress has big flat switchbacks and Seymour only a little less so. You actually recover a bit on those flat switchbacks. And you don't need to brake on Cypress corners at all. I don't remember Seymour because I have not ridden it in a while but I think brakes are required there.

I'd enjoy the opportunity to go back up to Baker for a bike ride. Back when I was at WWU my time going up and down the hill was for skiing, working Chair-6, and just having fun. Great memories that would likely never be the same after slogging my way up that climb.

Oh well, was pleased to see that my MTB ride on Monday had 1 HC, 1 cat 1 and 2 cat 2 climbs amongst the 3s and 4s. No wonder I needed the granny gear!
