First thing I read this week was Specialized recalling the Tarmac SL7s for (as I read it) inadequate design of the steerer in way of the headset; that cracking could happen on harsh impacts.

Specialized is installing plugs now into the recalled steerers and doing the same with the built bikes not yet sold.  (Shades of the mid-last century European racers on certain brand bikes jamming dowels down their steerers.)

I wonder if their are Tarmacs out there with owners that aren't going to see this recall and if we will be reading about them some day.

Specialized seems to be doing a good job getting the word out. Many on different forums are already reporting getting e-mail notifications from their dealers.

I think it is much easier to get word of events like out in these days of social media and hyper-connectivity to activities we enjoy.
