Gone but not forgiven, I mean forgotten but I'll still venture over there to read the articles.

The personal attacks originating from a small group of posters that were allowed to go on over there was one of the things that drove people away.

Yep, the playing nice is...nice. Also true that many pillars of the phorum are mostly absent her. What happened to CK and kidwok to name two? |

yes, call Ripley's that the douche contingency has not raised their collective head here [yet]. Amazing. And rather nice. Goes to show that a few assclowns can have a significant [negative] affect on a board |

They have their facebook posters on almost every article on their main page. So, what use was the forum for them? No use at all. Not surprising they gave it up. Indeed, they probably forgot about it years ago and were surprised to find it still existed! |

The drawback to using Facebook as the source for comments is that they are limited to the stories published on the site itself. With the forum, you could ask a question about just about anything. I remember asking about construction loans, so it didn't have to be a technical question. The advice I received was very helpful. I found the most of the forumites were very well educated and knowledgable in their chosen field. Sure, there was a small group of complete crazies (with one of them using no-less-than 7 screennames!), but you'll get that with any sampling of the general public. Anyhow, the biggest loss is the ability to post a topic about anything. |

CERV, we have it on good authority that there are only about 10 of us. (I forget the source; flicker?) What you are seeing is the approximately 16 apiece usernames each of us are using. If I seem a little spacier than usual, it's because I am trying to keep all mine straight. It's hard! Ben |

i quit going to the Velonews forum due to the idiocy of a few of the posters like polish, 7th spear, etc... is there anyway that they can be actually kept away from ruining this forum at all? is there any way to block them if they do somehow manage to worm their way into here? i'm glad the velonews forum is done, it served it's purpose for a long time but really went downhill due to a couple of the circle jerks there. this is better. |

Yes, for the users, but of no value to VN! |

Well, I have moderator functions, but Steve is in charge of who gets access to the forum and who doesn't. |

i would hope that because this site is a personal endeavor instead of a corporate one, if it has an infiltration of lunatics, it would be much easier to get them banned. |
