So as posted before I have been dealing with afi8b for over six years. Some good, not so much now. Went back into afib a few weeks ago. Spend three days in hospital, Back in sinus rhythm for now but all my docs are saying time for a pace maker, I have never felt this $4itty in my life. Hard to stand and get tired just cooking dinner and I''m in sinus rhythm. Heart rate can get a little low under 60 most of the time. If anyone has gone this route would love to hear. I don't understand how it's going to make my daily life better, just my times when I fall out of rhythm.

Forgive me, as you specifically requested those with BTDT, which by good fortune (so far) is not me.
If you aren't comfortable with your Cardiologist's recommendation, get a second. I'll bet a lot that the second opinion will be the same, but that's not for me to say. For many, a pacemaker can be a very good thing, with little downside.

Is your type of afib not a good candidate for cardiac ablation? Or have you already gone that route?

I get to see my cardio. doc tomorrow. So I will know more what options I have left. I have had conversions and two ablations over the last six years. The longest lasted about three years. And they all made me feel a lot better. This time they changed my meds a little and added a new one. I have been checking blood pressure and sinus rhythm every day and things look OK. But I feel the same after the hosp. visit. I'm not even comfortable sitting at my desk for more than a few minutes. I need to get a better understanding on how this will work with my symptoms. The last six months I have just felt like crap. Lost 20lbs in a couple months and have not much appetite and and was waling five miles a day with the dog and now I'm weak and tired after one..

I hope you get some help today at the doc, that's got to be terribly frustrating.

Thanks everyone. Saw doc today and we decided to try one more ablation. Maybe three is a charm. My reason for posting was to see if anyone here used a pacemaker. I though there was a long thread a few years ago about Zinn and his dealing with afib.
