Which links didn't work? You are welcome to join us in Orange County, NY, but I think it might be a bit of a trek (not the cycle).
I'm 71. Do I qualify as a geezer?

To help with formatting insert a break code to drop down a line, use two if you want a blank line to separate paragraphs.

Use this --> (/br) except use < and > in place of the parentheses

The Repair Cafe session went well. One of the bikes just needed air in the tires and lube on the chain. A bunch were dropped off to be donated. Another is in my garage; I have to pick up a set of crank bearings to restore an Avigo (a brand I never heard of).

Nice job, and good Karma for you!
Nerd here googled Avigo and found it is under the firm Dynacraft, so googled Dynacraft and found they own bikes branded BMW, Care Bears, CCM (great ice skates), and Barbie. Yes that Barbie, and others. They are listed as USA based but really? Google Dynacraft to go deeper down the rabbit hole . . . and get frustrated.
JMO, but dynacraft is a shell or front for offshore manufacturing, but from where? This forumite is way more sympathetic to Taiwan than mainland China. The few remaining on this little forum likely includes interweb sleuths far smarter than me. I hope you dig in, not just for my curiosity, but also to uncloak what fat cats are trying to hide. Meanwhile, yea Barbie bikes and yeah good folks keeping their neighbors riding.

Dynacraft has worked with same Chinese manufacturer since 1984: https://www.bikelockwiki.com/where-are-bikes-made/

As to ownership, what does “a Neptune company “ mean at bottom of their logo? That’s probably the clue.

Dynacraft is a mass merchant supplier for bikes. We competed against them regularly in my days at Brunswick.

the manufacturing was almost certainly in mainland China due to the market they were competing in, but their HQ may have been in Taiwan....I honestly don't recall.

But they are a legit company.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

I thought I read their HQ was in California but it moved to Georgia because Savanna has a bigger better port for their massive import?

I think that is just the US sales office, not the corporate HQ.....but it has been 20 years since I was in the biz, so I could be incorrect and / or things may have changed.

But a legit company, either way.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

I got the crank bearings and fixed the bike. It's now en route to a lucky kid.

Excellent!
Downsizing at my place is in full swing. Mixed results: some of the stuff in my basement workshop still is useful and gratefully accepted by the local free places, but more is not, basically junk unless the right retrogrouch and I link up. I confess it is a bit painful to toss what was so dear two decades ago. Sorry retrogrouches, I choose not to be featured on that cable show Hoarders.
