O.C., chalk up another one. I bought it today. Blew out a rear tire at 25 mph, lost control and went down hard! Busted collarbone, probably a cracked rib I will keep quiet about, a hip that hurts like hell and that I cannot put more than about 10 pounds on and abrasions all over my body.
Went forward and to my left, hitting my shoulder, hip and helmet hard then apparently spun very fast as I have a lot of roadrash (and some of my biggest) on my right side. Two cyclists stopped and helped me, assisting me to a shaded grassy area of the park I was passing, lying me down on the grass, questioning my about number of fingers, day of the week, etc. I passed that exam. I then took a taxi to the nearby clinic where I got patched up and X-rayed. Friend got me home and did an unsuccessful search for some scotch. Not a problem. I have a months supply of oxycodone and am on Vicodin now. I can navigate my house with one crutch.
Except for the collarbone (and we will see about the hip), I took that crash pretty well. At least a dozen contact points, following my maxim of the more skin lost, the better. No concussion. But tomorrow is going to be a long day!
Jessica aka Team Dumpster came out of it just fine. I am sure I will see little stuff, but wheeling in between the taxi and the clinic, it felt just fine save the tire.
I think this chair may be my home for a while, so guys, you may just have to get used to me.
Ben

Ughh Ben, anytime is wrong time for that to happen but particularly bad for it to happen just when hard work from training is starting to pay off. Hope you heal quick but it sounds like that's gonna take awhile. I've been plagued by thoughts of needing to keep it together last little while. A first and not good. As a group our negative streak this year continues. |

Wow, Yes, oxycodone will be very useful to get some sleep!
Take it easy and forget about everything else for a bit. |

C2K, I slept very well last night in exact two hour intervals. Then I'd wake up and it was time for the next pill. Didn't even matter that I was sitting, not lying down. Getting prone with broken collarbones is hard and painful! Two of my best investments ever were a really comfortable leather couch and those Dania armchairs. BEn |
