Perhaps.

would like to try one. Seems to make more sense than the bigger tires and beastly frame weights of the snow bikes.

My current rock crawler is a Moots YBB 69'er with a rigid fork and big fat 2.55 tires - lighter than the Krampus, shorter wheelbase, hydraulic discs, and a higher bottom bracket - and it's titanium.

I have a buddy running a Krampus front end on a Kona 9'er Ti bike, it's pretty sweet, and then we have a bunch of these bike tramps running around on these things, camping all winter on these bikes, and now doing minimalist camping, logging close to 100 miles a day.
With this bike, I would run it regular niner all summer, then switch to the big tires for the winter. The new Magura shocks willl now work with these big tires, even the fat bikes like the Pugsley's
