The everyone is doing it comment got me to thinking about all the things I did before I was let's say 25 that where either out right breaking the law to things my mom wouldn't have been proud of me if she found out I did them.
Yes I was an under age drinker
Yes I drove while drunk, more than once. Missed being killed by an inch once
Yes I smoked pot
Yes I cheated on a few tests
Yes I copied a paper or two
Yes I cheated on a girlfriend
Yes I drove to fast
Yes I never told anyone when some dude held a knife to some other dude
Yes I walked out on a check once
Yes I watched a guy climb out the window of a car doing 70mph across the roof and back in the other side window
Yes I lied to save my ass more than a few times
The list is longer than this I'm sure of it. I could say I was just a kid. I could say everyone was doing it. Honestly I did them and I'm not really sure why. Deep thought was never one of my strong suites.
Do I expect more from my kids. You I bet I do. Do I find myself being hypocritical at times. You bet I do. Do I cut people slack because of my past? I'm sure I do.

Can we get this criminal removed from our forum?! ;]
I did a lot of stupid sh*t and some of it illegal, but I never did it because "everyone else is doing it". I did it because I was having fun and testing the limits.

Ride on....I am SHOCKED, SHOCKED, to find out that you sometimes drove too fast!

Please define "drive too fast". Over the posted limit? Faster than my comfort zone? faster than my car can safely go? faster than grandma in her 72 pea green Valiant?

Oldfart, When I was 20 I got a ticket for 133 in a 55...the officer said that I was driving to fast. I didn't agree but since he had his gun in hand, I didn't tell him that I didn't agree.

Jmdirt... Yikes.
I hit 105mph once and if your car was like mine at 16 it certainly was not safe. I think just about every nut and bolt was about to bust loose and the tires, don't even get me to thinking about how shot they were. The vibration caused me to shut it down.
I just don't feel like it is my place to tell these kids what they should and should not do especially if they are in no way endangering me or my family.

I felt like my car was safe at that speed especially since I was on a section of road that was flat and straight for miles. I've owned some junkers in my life but that was not one of them. When I was 14-18 I had a Chevy LUV that had trouble getting up to 55 (and wasn't safe over that anyway). I got my speed and risk fix from motorcycles and snowmobiles in those days.
