“I’ve effectively used products when it was necessary, in case of lesions or other injuries. At ONCE, in the evening after the stages, the doctor took care of us, for our recovery, but we didn’t really know what it was. A relationship with doctors based on mutual trust was established, so we didn’t ask questions. We were treated, I’ve never said otherwise. Were we doped? I believe we weren’t.” Did he go into law? Aside from the final sentence, there is a lot of vague language there, that leaves a lot of wiggle room. Sure, this was translated from French but...
trying to link ... and it worked. |

He can't firmly say he never doped but he can firmly say that his performance was enhanced when he received injections. A sprinter who became a climber on bread and water and whatever the doc gave him.
I'll help him here: I can firmly say that he doped.
PS-It's pretty funny that he said that he had TUEs for any products that he knowingly used yet TUEs didn't come about until after he retired...hmmm. |

For accuracy's sake, TUEs have been around since at least 1999 and Jalabert was certainly racing then. But...yeah. He doped. And I totally believe him in that he really never deeply questioned what he was being given. |

Keith, " Once confronted with historical data, the members of parliament might find something strange in this statement, as TUE were introduced in the WADA code in 2005, three years after the end of Jalabert’s career." If you're looking for accuracy, TUEs have been around since at least the '80s for health reason, not for doping reasons, for Oly sports. |

Lance got a back dated TUE for his cortisone positive in 1999. |

well, Jaja was never a pure climber. that one year he got the polka dot was simply due to heading out early and scooping up all the KOM points then just holding on for dear life after that, IIRC. |

j_a, wasn't he in an all day break that day and amassed a good pile of KOM points simply be being there and being the most interested in the points? I recall that ride as just Jaja being Jaja. Ben |

You don't win the Vuelta w/o being able to climb..... And he was always listed as an outside contender in July after '94. |
