Well worth watching I'd you haven't seen it. Dude entered same 2015 e haute route souped up as I was sandbagging at tail end. The fact that he did worse than without juice because his di2 ran out of juice is supremely funny. And the fact that 10 guys in that race were still a cut above him is telling.
After watching this it's clear WADA ISN'T catching anyone and IOC is as corrupt as Russians. Olympic games have been good for major doping innovations since at least 1984 LA and probably longer than that. |

My wife and I watched that a month or so ago and were slack jawed the whole time. The corruption at every level is amazing. |

Am I only only one that thought the whole thing was faked? Seemed just a little too convenient he had ahappened to get on a doping program with that guy just as schitt hit the fan....and really, was that wig / mustache for real? It looked like bad props form a high school play.

Watched it a few months back with my wife. Unfortunately, I don't know what to believe anymore. |

CK - he has a bit of Dennis Farina going on for sure, LOL. Reminded me of his character in Reindeer Games. I am mostly left wondering about Tygart. "I can't do this but I'll point you to this guy in Russia...".
This is a good interview the digs a little deeper than the documentary on some stuff: https://cyclingtips.com/2017/09/doping-documentary-interview-icarus-director-bryan-fogel/ |

Watched it also - felt off. Although I do believe that drugs in sports are rampant and in many countries, sanctioned from the top, but this was a strange doc - switched it's course a third of the way through, made a hero of a corrupt and egotistical, yet charming man who was just trying to save his own butt, and you could tell that he loved drama - which made him even harder to trust. Still don't know how I feel about the documentary, but I do know that there's lots of cheaters out there - ones that have no problem lying through there teeth right up until the very end, and then they twist it around and usually find some way to make money off of it. My wife and I were left with the question of is there any honesty and integrity left in the world, or is it just something created for suckers like me... |

Huck - sports and particular the olympics is geopolitics which makes it rife for corruption. Heck even from the outset, sports "ideals" were meant to separate the aristocracy from the riffraff. This article digs a bit into this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2016/07/29/doping-has-always-been-part-of-the-olympics-of-course-russia-got-off-the-hook/?utm_term=.6e5d2df5a131 So yes, switch off your mind, enjoy the show, cause that's what it is... |

That wasn't Tygart, it was Don Catlin. |

Leaving aside Catlin's introduction / recommendation, what felt the most "off" to me was this guy's complete willingness to work with a stranger and divulge all these secrets while insisting on quasi-espionage efforts to keep their secrets hidden. Whole thing was just weird.... |

Yes, Catlin not Tygart, brain fart. The weirdness and momentum shift of documentary in my mind comes down to simple fact that Rodchenkov wanted and needed to get out as curtain on whole operation was starting to drop. So while Fogel only found him by chance through the Catlin introduction; for Rodchenkov this may have presented the perfect opportunity and he jumped at it. In the end Rodchenkov used Fogel more than the other way around. What struck me is that Catlin probably had a reasonable idea of Rodchenkov's role but sat on it. And if he knew, who else did?

So they have a cocktail bar now in the old building where they did the sample exchanges (Gastrobar La Punto). You can order cocktails named B-Sample or Meldonium. Whatever else the Russians are, they have an impeccable sense of dark humor. |
