Over the top are precisely the words I'd attach to this; especially since it seems to be a bit self-proclaimed.
There are better candidates for this designation. |

| yeah, whatever. He certainly was the strongest guy from start to finish. Given what Plan B says, I have my doubts, but...whatever. It was certainly exciting and epic racing, though perhaps too extreme. |

First off, I am always a doubter. This is due to all of cycling for the last 15 years.
But did Nibali really have a "Sudden improvement"? He was on the podium three times in grand tours already
2010 Vuelta 1st
2011 Giro 2nd
2012 Tour 3rd
As for the TT, while he is not the best TT guy on the work, it was an UPHILL TT. He did as I had expected.
He did a little better than I expected on the Flat TT earlier, but not great.
I think you could come to the conclusion he did it clean. Then again due to the track record in the sport, you can always doubt. That is the real shame. We will doubt any rider with a great performance. Although in Italy, Pantani is still revered... |

Sad is the day that now anytime anyone does anything excellent on the bike everyone will be crying "DOPER" immediately. ... not just cycling - but any sport where someone is fast/quick/strong/high Vo2max - anyone excelling will be suspect.
Voss, Cavindish, Gilbert, Boonen, Saegan, Wiggins (last year), Nabili, Rodreguz, Compton, Cancellera, .. anyone winning should be suspect - yes? |

Bodynazi, you make a very good point. I'm somewhat (though not entirely!) regretting what I alleged the other day about Nibali, or came close to alleging, in my retro-fitted 'theory'. At this point many of us are looking for answers in twitches of a shoulder, twinkles in an eye.
Perhaps we're just tired of feeling like fools. How soon we've forgotten that Marco Pantani, too, was ushered in as the new clean face of cycling because he looked like a lawn gnome. An Italian male with no hair! — it was a visual contradiction that had us all genuflecting before his apparent piety. How people look, what people say about themselves, their demeanour, their sometimes undeniable social graces, along with flapping crucifixes and dying dogs — these things are not evidence.

| We are not fools for watching these riders and cheering them on. We are only fools when these riders test positive and then we believe their stories of how they are not guilty. |

Right now my hopes are with the younger guys under 30 and don't believe for a second VN was clean. We all have been fooled once too many time with the old school pros. I also don't think Jens V, Fabian C or Thor H ever raced clean.
Over the past year all riders from that error mean nothing to me as a cycling fan. Too many talented pros didn't make it becasue they refused to jump on the wagon and so it has hard not be a cynic.

Enjoy the show, or don't. You know some of it is rigged, you don't know who, so take it for what is worth.
After all the nonsense, I still love the sport, less enamored of the pro aspect so don't care as much to fret over "did he or didn't he"
