Still my favorite cycling photo as it relates to total aggression. |

You telling me this guy was totally clean?!?
Are you talking about Kelly or Konyshev? Lemond is all class and the best US cyclist to ever throw a leg over a bike. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJSgzHTRg38 |

yeah, he's clean. The guy is an incredibly gifted athlete that was able to take that raw talent to world-class competition...and did pretty darn well! That picture is probably the BEST representation of the amazing euphoria of winning a race. |

I think this photo and Hampsten climbing Gavia Pass are the most iconic photos in modern road cycling.
And one more time, shame on Trek! Lemond Cycling should be as prominent at Bontrager is now. The Professional level framesets should be Lemonds. Leopard-Trek should be on Lemond Frames and Bontrager Components. |

Hear, hear KR. Shame on Trek They will pay the piper, don't worry. Their road line is dead on arrival this year from what I have heard. Dealers that have a choice and have not been sucked in to their floor plan financing are utilizing other options. Their parts and accessories are doing well, though |

That is a great finish. What a descent by Kelly to catch. |

At this time in Cycling the doping was not nearly as effective. Even the use of testosterone was mostly directed at recovery. Although blood packing was available back then I really don't think it was used like it was in more recent years. Most of the drugs of these days were used to manage pain and fatigue rather than drugs that actually made race horses out of plow horses. Was Lemond a clean rider? I believe he was and I don't think you would find many that claim he wasn't. |

All that matters is that this was the Golden era of cycling. |

"And one more time, shame on Trek! Lemond Cycling should be as prominent at Bontrager is now. The Professional level framesets should be Lemonds. Keith Bontrager is a genius R&D guy who has done a great job of developing his Brand under Trek. GL was just a name to sticker a bike with and then he tried to kill Trek's golden (doped) goose. Putting a Lemon sticker on an OCLV frame doesn't make it ride any differently. Really shame on Trek for buying Lemond's name in the first place to try to sell bikes. We'll talk about Gary Fisher later. |

Obviously YOU guys knew all along, TREK should have fired LA, kept Lemond and his bike brand, got Andy Hampsten to promote their brand. In that way they would have had the two of the top American riders in history promoting their Brand. I don't know why TREK was so short sighted. |

Breaking off bobs,... Hampsten did this the "right" way imho. Start a small bike company. Avoid the lure of trying to get mega-bucks rich. Keep something going that you can handle. Minimal harm if it dies. |

Well, just as they worked with Lance to tailor their frames to him, they could have just as easily made molds to Greg's specification. I rode the steel Lemonds and they had a very distinctive geometry and feel to them. |
