On the cyclingnews.com website, the former Robert Millar has come out, post transformation, as a woman.
Honest post here: Good for her, best wishes and good luck. Hope she finds happiness and success.
But, even though I'm a medical professional, I'm confused, too
Call me old or worse, but there it is.

I know someone who has gone the other way. I like him better as a "him" than the old "her". It works. I have also seen a few changes that look to me to be forced.

I have a nephew who used to be a niece. I also don't understand, but I love and accept him. I worry a bit about the testosterone treatment and its potential long-term effect, but he lives in the present. His parents and siblings (and grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins) have been very accepting even though the pronouns sometimes get mixed up.

Nothing but full respect for Phillipa in her new life....

When I first heard the news, I was kinda surprised, but after a moment's reflection kinda wasn't.

Over the last year or so, I have been exposed to a lot more this through my daughter....not her specifically, but a friend of hers and also some reporting she has done for the Indiana school paper. Honestly can't imagine not the internal confusion / discomfort of living as someone you aren't....i hope everyone who faces these challenges finds the strength to live their lives as they wish.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

Great points CK. I have a couple cycling friends who have made the journey from being born male to becoming female. The stuff they had to endure to do what they did is simply mind-numbing, and then to top it off they train and race on a regular basis. I always feel humbled by what they have done when I ride with them.

Robert Miller made the change several years ago and has not sought the limelight, nevertheless she has done some interviews and seems very likable, not surprising, both before as Robert Miller and after as Philippa York this person is likable.
