j_a, I see that it came out a couple of months before I received the frame, so I could have. About the same price as a Miche double sided hub. Cogs are a bunch cheaper, $21 instead of ~$35. But I now have 2 double sided and at least two single sided hubs and cogs 12-23 so that is real investment. And just to do one double sided Fix-G with those 12 cogs would be $327 before spokes, rims and building. That is, of course, if Fix-G comes with a 23 tooth cog. If not, that's a deal breaker. (I just looked - 12-20 teeth. Doing Dead Indian Memorial Road out of Ashland, OR on a 20? Nah. Jeesh, I rode Day 5, the rest day on an 18. In 10 years I'll be riding those rest days on a 20. You mean I have to climb on it too?!!)
The other big concern that Fix-G addresses is thread damage. Yeah, that's real. But for perspective - I've stripped the threads of 2 hubs in 90,000 miles. The first was due to changing thread standards. The 2nd was a used hub of unknown origin. Haven't done it yet with Miches I bought new. (Knock on wood.) That covers at least the last 33,000 miles.

My last concern with the Fix-G hubs is how long they are going to be around. If they go away (has that ever happened in the bike world?), once those hubs and cogs become hard to find, I would be looking at investing in what I have now. Regular track hubs are a pretty solid standard. The cogs are going nowhere. More hubs that work with those cogs will always be available.

That chainwhip is only 12 oz? Looks to be over a foot long. What's it made of, aluminum?
