Back in gray chilly Vermont.  Sigh.

But, the riding in CA was great.  Even the motorists were attentive and courteous for the most part.  For anyone that knows the area, we did Peachy Canyon (twice) Adeleida (thrice), Chimney Rock, Hog Canyon, Cross Canyon etc.  for a number of local middle distance rides.  One day we did the big early season ride, taking Adeleida (sp?) to Vineyard, to Chimney Rock, to g-14 up and over Naciemento, down to Lockwood, then through an army base and on to the Naciemento-Ferguson Road up and over the mountain and down to the coast at HWY 1.  My first view of the Pacific!  Awesome climb with a slew of switchbacks through an alpine forest, followed by an intimidating descent through hairpin after hairpin with HUGE dropoffs and no guardrails.  A mistake would have ended badly.  Plus, no forest on the way down and I have a bit of vertigo and the views were enormous!  So, I was cautious (read: wimpy).  My girlfriend crushed me on the way down, making me the voice of reason and her the voice of "descent."

I now get why people love pedaling in California!

The weather is actually supposed to get okay here starting Wednesday so . . . let the season begin!

Glad you had a good time. We looked at property in San Luis Obispo years ago. My wife was convinced that the nuclear reactor in Diablo Canyon would blow up. We ended up in Auburn instead. Now we worry about forest fires.

If you ride in rural areas away from traffic the drivers are more tolerant. If you live in heavy traffic areas it's another story....
