Anyone else having problems with their website?  It's been like this for over a week.  Maybe just me.

Hot take:  they should merge with CyclingTips and offer a membership option for something like $6/mo.  I'd spring for that.  Good content without some of the more annoying ads.

No problems here. You will have problems if you are running an ad blocker. I downloaded uBlocker and pause it when I visit the Velonews site.

No problems on my end either...

They are doing something similar to your suggestion, but with other Pocket Media properties...Triathlete, Competitor, etc. it is called Active Pass or something like that and has some exclusive content and perks.

I use uBlock Origin (absolutely necessary on sites like Cyclingnews) but turned it off. Still can't get Velonews to pull up yet I was able to view it on iOS Safari.

And haven't missed much, it appears! I feel really bad for these publications. I remember growing up with Velonews, Winning and the UK CycleSport, the one where you paid at least $15 for an issue if you happened to find one at Barnes and Noble. Not sure how they can modify their business model.

My internet service is weak, Adblocker means it works and my computer doesn't bog down and need restarts several times a day. Those sites that ask me to take it off? Kinda like asking me to take off my underwear before I enter their establiishiment. I just don't go there, and guess what? I still have access to reams of information that was in a distant celestial orbit 4o years ago.

I don’t know the answer either....I know we need journalism more than ever, but no one seems willing to pay for it. The “journalism for free on the internet” genie is out of the bottle and I don’t know how to put it back.

I have a Mac and pc next to each other. The pc has an add blocker not the Mac. About two months ago I started getting blocked on a lot of sites from football to newspapers etc blocking me from their sites because of the ad blocker that I had access to before. I just can't deal with all the ads. It was getting so bad on some sites that there were more ads than anything else and it just kept changing the page. You go to click on another story and it would change to an ad. And then you would get a ton more of them and stories on all kinds of crap. I have a few sites I pay for but it's to expensive to pay for all of them so I just stop going.

Just a quick note. I am trying to read a story on my Mac. no ad blocker. My screen is 19" and only 6' were given to the story. The rest were adds on both sides
