In the spring, we went to San Diego. I found a bike shop in La Jolla and rented a bike for a day. This month, I'm on the road again, bound for a different saint city: St. Louis. I may have a day for a bike ride. Can anyone recommend a rental shop in the city so I can cycle across the Eads Bridge? I like crossing rivers on bridges, and I've never been across the Mississippi. thanks, smokey

Your best bet for a decent rental is "Big Shark" in the Delmar Loop, they also have a downtown shop. I'd recommend against crossing the Eads Bridge, what's on the other side isn't a destination you want to experience, and recommend taking the Riverfront Trial to the Chain of Rocks Bridge. The shop can give you all the details. The Delmar Loop to the Chain of Rocks bridge is probably a 40 mile round trip. Dead flat and all paved so any bike will do. Parts of the trail were recently underwater so there may be some flotsam in spots. Depending on how much time you have, you could also cross the Missouri River at St. Charles. It's further. I'd offer to ride with you but I'm headed out of town myself.

Follow-up on my last message. If you're without a car, you can take MetroLink to the Delmar Station. the Big Shark bike shop is literally right across the street from the station.
